I just had to pass along this link to you -- reading that description, how could one NOT be a Pinot fan??? And since I've got that, um, UTAH thing going for me, I also found humor in the whole Mormon Winemaker portion of the story (I'm also from Wisconsin and did the State Street Pub Crawl during college in Madison, so...).

http://blogs.sltrib.com/slcrawler/2008/03/words-of-wisdom-about-wine.htmMs. Maxwellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03984010833877706579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1548491102520849315.post-10978296621761376242008-03-02T23:19:00.000-08:002008-03-02T23:19:00.000-08:00I LOVE pinot. OK, I will. Go to http://www.carrwinery.com and order the 2004 Syrah. I haven't tried it, but of it's a fraction as good as the 2003 you are in for a real treat. Do you think they'll send me a few bottles for my efforts?

And Jen, why bother with wine in CO when you have such easy access to New Belgium beer?! NOTHING ON EARTH! I, too, am jealous of your proximity to good wine. We have wineries all over Missouri and Illinois and they are fun little joints, but they lack some of the atmosphere of the west coast wineries. Okay, a lot. Some of the Missouri wineries are better because, contrary to popular belief, Missouri is actually quite pretty - lots of nice rolling hills, river valleys, Ozark mts in the SW, etc. I live in IL which is farming flatlands. Anyway, I digress. At our local wineries, they don't grow a lot of their own grapes because they can really only grow sweet grapes for wine making. They bring the grapes in from other places for the wine making. There are a few okay ones, though.

KEEP BELIEVINGAngie @ KEEP BELIEVINGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00930977696454848345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1548491102520849315.post-36535520162650814862008-03-02T11:32:00.000-08:002008-03-02T11:32:00.000-08:00The Los Olivos menu looks scrumptious. And on Sunday, too! ;) Colorado has great wineries, but they're all over the divide, which today is impossible to cross. Oh well, I have red something-or-other in the wine rack.
And I also fell into the "eh" group for Sideways.Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06600711458051601834noreply@blogger.com
